Decision making

I was looking at Suzy Welch’s 10-10-10: A Life-transforming Idea.

Her idea is simple, and I like it.  Before making a decision, consider how will your decision affect you in 10 minutes, 10 months and 10 years.

For example, in 10 minutes going to my exercise class at the YMCA this morning might make me feel stressed by delaying starting my work in exactly the way I prefer.  But in 10 months I believe I will be glad that I am in good shape.  And in 10 years?  Oh wow.  I think I’ll be very glad I paid attention to my health. I wouldn’t want the level of intensity of a ministry, or any other kind of job, that could keep me from the gym regularly over the long term.

So, I go to the gym…

I love this idea — 10-10-10!
