2. The Holy Spirit is God inside of me, and you, causing the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control to ripen in our lives.
3. The Holy Spirit will never forsake us.
4. We are a new Creation in Christ. We have a new heart, a new nature.
SO, friends, why do we still sin?
Well, because we are at war, that’s why.
With ourselves (the flesh).
With the devil.
And with the world. We are indeed living behind enemy lines. Scripture warns that “the whole world is under the control of the evil one” (I John 5:19). Jesus seemed quite aware of this during his time on planet earth. Satan once offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world. Jesus did not deny that they were Satan’s to give (Luke 4:5-8). Pretty sobering, huh?
My friend John Doyel says, “Having these three enemies and the daily battle we face is our reality! It should say something about the powerful enemies we have and the precarious situation we are in that it takes the very presence of the Spirit of God in our lives so that we are not utterly defeated.”
We do in fact have everything we need — God’s Spirit living inside us. Jesus was clear: “Greater is He who is in you than He who is in the world.”
So stay at your post, friends. Stand strong in the strength of His Might!
Good word today, Don!
