You don’t have to live long to see what people most fear. Essentially there are 8.
- Fear of the unknown future.
- Fear of failure.
- Fear of poverty.
- Fear of bereavement.
- Fear of loneliness.
- Fear of sickness and pain.
- Fear of age.
- Fear of death.
I try to combat those fears with this prayer:
“O Lord, deliver me from the fear of the unknown future, from fear of failure, from fear of poverty, from fear of bereavement, from fear of loneliness, from fear of sickness and pain, fear from of age and from fear of death. Help me, Father, by your grace, to love and fear you only. Fill my heart with cheerful courage and loving trust in you, through our Lord and Master Jesus Christ. Amen.”
It’s a prayer worth committing to memory…
