The Good News, the VERY good news is this:
Regardless of your performance … on your worst days of sin and failure … on your best days of victorious living, the gospel of Jesus remains utterly unchangeable.
Recently I heard Pastor Bob Smart from Christ’s Church in Normal, IL, say that on your worst day or on your best day you still can wholeheartedly repeat this truth:
“I am pardoned of all my sins and accepted as righteous in His sight, but only for the righteousness of Christ imputed to me and received by faith alone.”
For we followers of Jesus this truth never changes — regardless of how we feel about it. God loves us more than we can ever imagine. We are made in his image. And yes, we are fallen image bearers, which makes us, as Pastor Smart says, “a GLORIOUS RUIN.”
Still, he says we can, indeed we must, boldly proclaim: “I am a new creature in Christ, and declare war with my old, sinful nature in the irreconcilable war that lasts until heaven.”
