We are either moving toward or away from God

Everyday I am confronted with choices which can move me either toward or away from my good God. Why must I continuously be alert to making wise choices? For the same reason that Win and I as a husband and wife must continually reject attitudes/actions which would move us apart. To choose otherwise is devastating to intimate relationship.
It is the same with my relationship with God. Choosing anything that moves me further from God breaks our intimate relationship. He is, rightly, a Jealous lover.
