Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, was barren prior to giving birth to her son. And she apparently was not young. Zechariah, John’s father, told the angel Gabriel that he was an old man and that Elizabeth his wife was well along in years. But Elizabeth did become pregnant.
Luke 1:24 says, “After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. “The Lord has done this for me,” she said. “In these days he as shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”
Elizabeth’s pregnancy was the Lord’s doing. Pretty amazing, I’d say. Looking back on 2009, what has the Lord done for you? Is there something you can definitely point to say, “The Lord has done this for me.”
