This last weekend Jennifer and I drove way out to east-central Kansas to attend the wedding of the son of a 35-year dear friend of mine. John and I started hanging out together in 1974 and our friendship lasted. We still call a couple of times a month. How great is that?
He’s a retired army chaplain, now pastoring a church in Council Grove, Kansas. Jennifer and I stayed at their home and had fun talking with their children (most of them now young adults who are married).
On Sunday I preached at my friend’s church. It was fun and very tiring and worth it. You can’t program friendships like that.
