I was driving east this morning as the sun was rising over the east-central Illinois prairie. It was 51 degrees. Steam was rising on the ponds. Birds were beginning to make their morning rounds. Ripening corn and bean fields were stretching and coming into view.
“Heavenly Father,” I prayed, “I worship you the creator and sustainer of the universe.”
A new day was dawning … a day never used before. What a miracle. A new opportunity for me to say, “Lord Jesus, I worship you the Savior and Lord of the world.”
The radio was off.
I took in a big breath and breathed out, “Holy Spirit, fill me with yourself and cause the fruit of your Spirit to ripen in my life … love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
