Jesus didn’t stumble in front of the divine bullet meant for you. He stepped in front of it. — John Piper
Pastor Pastor Alan Rosnau is the Pastor of the Shepard of the Desert Lutheran Church in Scottsdale, AZ. This summer he is preaching a series of sermons on some of the great truths and texts found in the book of Romans.
Yesterday’s text was Romans 5:6-9:
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!
In his July 9 excellent 17-minute sermon, Pastor Rosnau delivered a terrific talk, clearly and simply explaining the famous Romans text. (An added benefit is that Rosnau is so well spoken.)
It’s really worth a listen if you can spend a few minutes hearing the good pastor explain why Jesus died for you and me while we were yet sinners.
