For Lent how about giving up having to have the last word!

Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.”  Romans 12:18

Have you ever met someone who used attack responses when they were more interested in winning a conflict than in preserving a relationship?
—–

Sometimes I want to have the last word.  Period.  Ever met someone like that?  They are so fun to be around!

They not only want to stand their ground – they want to be the last one standing. They want to be right, and even more important, they want to win.

In relationships, the one who wins the argument usually loses more than what is gained. In some cases, the respect, affection, and trust in the relationship may be lost entirely. That’s a pretty high price to pay for scoring big points in a fight.

Maybe one of your phrases this Lenten season could be: “Let it go.  Just let it go…”  (You  will be giving up for Lent having to have the last word!  And you know what? That’s OK.  Read the above verse again, and again, and again!)
