In this season of Advent, I am remembering today that Jesus was born ultimately to extend mercy to us and to the world. And therefore today I have been praying throughout the day, “Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.”
As I slowly repeat this prayer, I have been surprised at the darkness my heart can carry. Whew … not pretty I’ll tell you. All my heroes have clay feet, of course. But boy, so do I. And so I pray yet again, “Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.”
So on this second Monday of Advent I am watching and waiting and trying to be patient as I pray again and again… “Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. …. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.”
