Fight the good fight of faith

2 Timothy 1:7 New International Version (NIV)

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
This verse is one of my fighter verses.  When I’m about to give in or quit or not be clear, I often go to this verse.  I remember that Paul exhorted Timothy to “fight the good fight of faith.”

And then I couple the verse with this prayer of self-dedication from the book of Common Prayer:

Almighty and eternal God, so draw my heart to you, so guide my mind, so fill my imagination, and so control my will, that I may be completely yours, utterly dedicated to you.  And then use me, as you will, and always for your glory and the welfare of your people.  Through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen…
