When you negotiate with others, here are 4 elements that are almost always true:
** You are unlikely to ever get all you want.
** You will probably get more of what you want if you do not issue ultimatums. Leave the person with whom you are negotiating room to maneuver or you’ll likely to find him digging his heels in deeper.
** Don’t back your adversary into a corner. If you embarrass or humiliate her, you’ve effectively burned a bridge you may one day need.
** Sometimes the easiest way to get some things done is for the top people to do them alone and in private.
