A dear friend recently wrote me: “The cross is the only place safe enough and strong enough for all the questions, regrets, sadness, loss, and pain. But there I know love, which appears to be the pathway forward.”
* That made me think of the great book by John Stott The Cross of Christ. It is one of the only full-length books of theology I have read through twice … cover to cover.
* And that made we think of the Latin phrase “Cruce, Dum Spiro, Fido.” … While I breath, I will trust in the cross.
* And that made me think of what the apostle Paul said in Galatians 6:14:
May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. (NIV)
* And that all made me think that my dear friend really, really understands the power of the cross! So I join my friend at the foot of the cross to boast, along with the Apostle Paul and the countless saints down through the ages.
