Here are 4 vital things you absolutely must cultivate in life if you’re going to be a pleasant, happy camper along life’s winding, narrow road. Believe me, the longer you journey, the more you need them! I bet you can work on all 4 yet today.
- No grumbling, whining, and complaining. When you sigh and moan people read, “Feel sorry for me.” “Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation.” Philippians 2:14-15 The world is dying to see pleasant people who look on the bright side of life.
- Always look for God’s blessings in your life. Learn to thank him over and over again. For your health, your home, your job, your family, your church, your children, your warm bed, your eye glasses, your car and for 10,000 more blessings besides. “Be joyful always … give thanks in all circumstances.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
- Find the best in people, no matter the situation. If you want to see bad in people, I promise – you’ll find it. If you look for the good in others, you will usually find it. “He who seeks good, finds goodwill.” Prov. 11:27. If you look for the good in people, they’ll like being around you. Besides, it’s not our job, says the apostle Paul, to always be judging another person’s servant. Romans 14:4 So quit it. You don’t want people always pointing out your faults, do you?
- Smile. Work at smiling. Don’t be so doggone serious. As you walk into the kitchen in the morning, as you greet co-workers throughout the day, as you walk past others in the grocery store in the late afternoon, smile. An anxious heart weights people down, but kind words cheer them up.” Proverbs 12:25 A smile can dramatically change a person’s day. What power you have with that smile. Use it!
