At least twice yesterday I was angry — once when I talked with one of my siblings and once at life when I was driving and telling God how I really felt. Each time I got agitated and raised my voice. This morning when I awaken I thought about what happened yesterday. Here’s what I think:
* “Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.” Genesis 4:6-7
* “The Lord is my light and my salvation — so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?” Psalm 27:1
* “All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.” John 3:20-21
Fear and anger are closely related. The Lord is my light and my salvation. I fear darkness, death and defeat. But God comes with light, life and salvation. “Lord, bring your Kingdom to your people. Save us from a time of trial but deliver us from the evil one. Send out your light and give we sinners life eternal.”
