A Thousand Splendid Suns

A_thousand_splendid_suns My sister said this novel by Khaled Hosseini made her glad she is a woman in the United States.

I read Hosseini’s novel last week.  Hosseini immigrated from Afghanistan to the United States in 1980.  This story is set in Afghanistan and is a dark tale of two generations of women trapped in a loveless marriage.  Bracketed by the events in Afghanistan in the 1980s and 1990s, the story is weighted equally with despair and grave hope.

I Highly recommend it.  Made me keep thinking of the words in Genesis3:16: "… yet your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you."
