One thought on “Americans and their spiritual search

  1. After taking this survey and reading this article this is what I sent to Newsweek..This is in response to the article "Spirituality" by Lisa Miller. I thought she did a great job on this article. I thought one of the questions she asked was the best question in the world. “Can a good person who isn't of your religious faith go to heaven or attain salvation, or not?” Majority of the people who took the survey believe that if you are a good person than you can go to heaven or attain salvation. I was surprise to find that most Christians believe that a good person can go to heaven. As a Christian this is my stand on why a "good person can not go to heaven." Heaven is the home of God. This is where everyone wants to go when their life is over on earth. Who would want to go to Hell for eternity anyways? But there is no such thing as a good person, because even a good person is a sinner. No man is good because all have sinned since the day of birth and since the fall of Adam and Eve at the Garden of Eden. If there is such a thing as a perfect good man than this person would be able to follow the Ten Commandments. But no man but Jesus Chris has been able to do this. In order for anyone to enter heaven you must be sinless. In order to be sinless we must obey the ten commandants. That is why people in the past used animals such as lambs to make sacrifices to God every time they have sinned against him. No one is perfect and God saw that so he sent his only son Jesus to live a perfect life and make the perfect sacrifice for all man kind. So all can be forgiven and all can have a relationship with God and enter the gates of eternity after death for eternity. When we are at the gates of heaven it is through justification that we enter. When you believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sin you are stamped with his blood to enter heaven. God will not see the sins that you have done but the blood of Jesus covering all your mistakes. God already knew that we are not perfect that’s why he sent Jesus his only son to make the ultimate sacrifice so that our sins will be forgiven. Therefore in Gods eyes you are justify through Jesus Christ death to enter his kingdom and you are saved.Gods grace is sufficient. All the sin in the world including, drunkenness, smoking, pot, party, sex out of marriage, drugs, murder and many more is all forgiven at the cross where Jesus died. There is nothing that you can do that God cannot forgive you for. The question is do we keep sinning more since we know God will forgive? No, we shouldn't sin since we don’t want to hurt the only one that loves us. God already knows every sin that we did or will do in the future. That’s why he sent his son Jesus Christ to die on the cross. It doesn’t matter what you do in your life, his love for you will never change, and he is always faithful to you.It is true there are just so many religions out there, but there is only one God. Eventually everyone will face judgment day. What is hell like I don’t know? All I know is that hell is probably a place with out God. God is good so everything in hell is probably bad. When one becomes a Christian it is important to shed the light to the unbelievers. Spreading the gospel by word can do it or even by the way you live your Christian life. People are always looking for a significant in their life most will replace it with money, fame, intelligence, what ever that will temporary fill that missing hole in your heart. There is hope in Jesus Christ alone. He is the answer to everything in life. Believe in Him for he is the way to Heaven, and to God.“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." John 14:6
