Illinois bows to North Carolina in the National Championship game

Deron_williams Deron Williams has provided me with lots of entertainment during this college basketball season.  After Illinois lost in the championship game to the University of North Carolina Monday evening, Williams was a good sport and shook the hands with the Tar Heel champs from North Carolina.

It was a great year for the 37 and 2 Illini.  Hats off to the Fighting Illini.

By the way, do you remember who took second in the NCAA championship game last April (2004)?  Me neither.  I had to look it up.  It was Georgia Tech.  Do you remember who won?  I told my office mate I was positive it was Syracuse University.

"Are you sure?" she asked.

"Hundred percent," I replied.

Wrong again.  Syracuse won it all in 2003.  It was Connecticut.  They beat Georgia Tech 82 to 73.

Ah yes, friends.  The glory of the big athletic competitions doesn’t last long.  "For physical training (and big contests with screaming fans!) is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."  — The Apostle Paul (I Timothy 4:8)
