Healing and freedom for Sexual brokenness!

Sex_1 The Bible talks a lot about sex.  Read the Song of Songs.  Even from the first pages of the Bible we read:  "The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone.  I will make a help suitable for him."

The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman.’ for she was taken out of man.  For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.  The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame."  Genesis 2:23-25

No shame felt?  Wow.  That was pre-fall-of-man, of course.  Incredible, nonetheless. I’ve rarely met anyone who didn’t feel shame about sex.  Indeed, after the fall of man (Gen. 3), there is story after story in Genesis about shameful sexual deeds.  The Bible never shies away from telling the true story of broken sexuality, rarely sparing its characters (i.e. David and Bathsheba.)

Here’s the deal:  Even with our redemption in Jesus, all of us struggle with temptation and understanding our sexuality.  I’ve never met anyone who is not confused, at least somewhat, about his or her sexuality.

My Colleague, Pastor Pam Larson, and I feel so strongly about helping people experience a breakthrough in this area (Translate:  honesty in relationships, understanding of why we keep struggling and lots of healing), we are offering a top-rate seminar on sexual wholeness here at the Vineyard on Feb. 19th.

We are bringing in Dr. Doug Weiss from Colorado Springs.  Weiss speaks all across the United States, talking with men about staying pure in a sexually insane culture; helping women understand sexual intimacy; and talking with both men and women about understanding sexual addiction.  I have seen his videos, and they are really good.  Our friends at the Evanston,IL, Vineyard told us he’s one of the best guys in the United States for this kind of presentation.

We want hundreds of people to attend.  Yes, hundreds.  People have told both Pam and me how broken and frustrated they are in the area of human sexuality. If you are a member of the Vineyard Church in Champaign, please sign up for this seminar at the Vineyard building.  Scores already have signed up.  If you’re not from Champaign-Urbana but want to come, please contact me (Don Follis) here at the Vineyard, and I’ll get you all the information you need [217-384-3070].  Believe me, there’s strength in numbers so get signed up now.

We’re expecting huge Breakthroughs in the lives of men and women….
