Ten_commandments In this morning’s Bible reading, I read:  "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.  I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.  Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven."  Matthew 5:17-19

I felt compelled to turn to Exodus 20 and read the 10 commandments.  I spent 30 minutes writing each commandment in my journal, writing my thoughts about each one.

Try it for yourself.  Do you believe these 10 commandments are valid for our day?  Do they speak to your heart?

I realize that so much of what God has for me comes down to trust.  Quite honestly, as I reflect on those wonderful commandments, I realize that God indeed has my best interests at heart.

"Lord God, help me digest the 10 commandments … well, all your loving commandments … help me live by them … knowing that those who follow your words and ways will be great in the kingdom of heaven."
