In Luke 13:4-5, Jesus gives a surprising response to those who gave him the news of 18 people being killed when the tower of Siloam crushed them to death.
Here’s what Jesus said: "Do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." (Luke 13:4-5) Surprised?
One lesson the Southeastern Asia disaster should teach us is the lesson of repentance. Is there some reason for all this suffering? Apparently so. One of them is our repentance. God is in control here, brothers, not on trial. When we come face to face with the fact that our Creator’s designs and purposes are good and wise and just, we are driven to our knees where we cry out saying, "Oh God, Creator and Sustainer of the Universe, be merciful to me, a sinner."
